homspun fun

Top Center is white superwash Merino that has been core spun with pieces of funfur this is really soft and full of texture. I am please with the way it came out. It is my first corespun attempt and it was fun, the results are fantastic.

On the left is white superwash merino with red and blue firestar for your holiday sparkle this is on sale at tamarie.etsy.com On the right is Alpaca sock that I spun from some Alpaca that I purchased at NorthstarAlpaca.etsy.com This Alpaca was pillowy soft and great to work with. I plan on spinning some more and adding silk to it for winter socks for my husband and son. Hopefully to keep their feet warm and dry this winter as they both work outside.

Just a word about the holiday. I will be on vacation from July 3rd to July 9th My shipping will resume on Friday on July 10th. You can purchase anything anytime and it will ship on the 10th of July. Have a safe colorful and Happy 4th of July everyone.

washing wool and dyeing vegan fiber

Yesterday I washed 2 pounds of Romney and dyed some banana and bamboo fiber along with tencel and corn. My corn fiber didn't hold the dye to well even though I used Jacquard dyes with soda ash and followed the directions. I was rather dissappointed. A few days ago I spun some novelty yarn and set the twist it should be about ready to post in my store at tamarie.etsy.com
I will add pics here when it is posted. today is more spinning and picture taking.

new products

Well here we are getting ready for the fourth of July. I've added some new products to my tamarie.etsy.com and they are ready for the holiday, just waiting for you to make something fabulous. We have a red a white and a blue batt made with romney,shetland and natural dyes set with heat and vinegar. Next is White superwash Merino with lots of red and blue firestar to make your fourth of July project sparkle. I have spun some of this into yarn and I am setting the twist now and it will be at tamarie.etsy.com this weekend. I wish everyone a safe and colorful fourth of July.

My 2 yr old grandson goes home on sunday the 21st. and I promise as soon as I recover from his 10 day visit I will update my post when ever recovery happens that is.:)

carding and dyeing

I have just been carding and dyeing wool. That is of course after I cleaned my house. It has been neglected for to long and tomorrow my 2 year old Grandson is coming for 10 days. I see sleep depravation in my near future. He is very special to me. Although I could live without the noisey temper tantrums. Terrible twos are upon us-and it takes him awhile to run his battery down.
So much like his Daddy at that age.:):)
